Kale is the stable hand nobody wanted, which is exactly why the queen picks him to guard her bedchamber. Episode 1 is a slow game of pointed questions and a pulse he cannot hide, since everyone at court knows touching royalty carries a death sentence, and she has clearly read the fine print. Episode 2 closes the door, puts her crown in his hands with a warning, and turns the whole rulebook into her favorite toy, all while the court gets ready to choose her husband. Kale keeps insisting he should not be here. The queen keeps agreeing and keeps him anyway. Expect velvet, nerves and a guard taking orders he never trained for.

Flavor profile

A power play with a crown on top: she holds every card, he holds only his breath. The line being crossed is a royal law written to protect her, and the free episodes keep it to dares, glances and a door pushed shut.
