Ser Garrick, a bastard knight, has a week to win the throne. Five lords he needs refuse to bend, and nobody wants to crown a man of his birth. In the woods a witch from Blackwood greets him by name, tells him he would look good in a crown and tells him to come to her at moonrise, promising that one lord bows by dawn. In episode 2 he arrives, and she names her price: a night for each lord who kneels. If he refuses, a rival wins, and the queen regent's riders are scouring the forest.

Flavor profile

A bargain, not a romance: she prices power in nights, he trades pride for the crown, and every kneeling lord adds to the debt. Free episodes stay with bargaining, shadows and one look too long by firelight.
